There’s something you should know about us…
We aren’t the typical protein bar company. We aren’t food manufacturers, re-merchandising drop shippers or supplement conglomerates. Believe it or not, we’re real people – a husband-and-wife team who got fed up with the available protein bars and decided to make our own.
Like you, we want to be healthy.
We’re committed to aging well and living longer, but the world around us and our own health challenges made this even more difficult.
Over the last 40+ years, we tried virtually every protein bar, powder and health supplement in existence, with frustrating results: Sugar crashes. Upset stomach. Unpalatable flavors. Inedible textures. Genetically modified (and highly suspect) ingredients.
There Had to be a Better Way
We decided to do it ourselves – to create a bar that features high protein and fiber while also eliminating sugar crashes and upset stomachs. A bar for real humans. For regular people trying to make healthy choices – people who may be suffering from autoimmune problems, diabetes or other health challenges.
With the help of Bridget Grover’s extensive healthcare and training background, Joel’s lifelong dedication to health and fitness, and Lynda’s experiences in functional nutrition, we were able to craft our line of delicious, satisfying, healthy LAST bars.

Joel Montesano
Fitness has always been central in Joel’s life. His enthusiasm for exercise began in his teens, and continued through 14 years in the US Navy – including eight years in the Naval Nuclear Power Program. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management, a master’s degree in cyber security, and a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.
After 40 years experimenting with protein supplements – and finding nothing that he felt measured up – Joel founded Five Plus Protein with his wife, Lynda, and Bridget Grover.

Lynda Montesano
Lynda has had a highly varied and successful career, and has always been physical fitness champion and advocate. She has worked as a model and spokesperson, an aerobics instructor and was the owner of a successful furniture store, where she was an innovator in visual merchandising, advertising and furniture design.
Today, Lynda helps advance Five Plus Protein’s mission of providing superior quality, non-GMO, vegan protein bars that are delicious as they are healthy.

Bridget Grover
Bridget is currently a college professor who holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and kinesiology as well as a master’s degree in healthcare law. She has been a physician assistant for more than 20 years, working in emergency medicine, family practice and geriatrics. She served as vice president of a healthcare organization that delivered care at the bedside to nursing home residents. Bridget was also a collegiate long-distance runner and is a certified personal trainer.
Bridget continues to work as a physician assistant in the field of geriatrics to provide longevity and knowledge. She brings her extensive medical, healthcare and training knowledge to bear on Five Plus Protein’s products.
